The opportunity

Cockey’s Enterprises Inc., a trash, disposal and waste management company in Baltimore, MD, was in need of a modern solution for their daily planning and dispatching needs. This platform update was necessary to keep up with customer demand, and previously, they had been using an older and slower workflow process that had many limitations. Because Cockey’s had a significant range of data that needed to be viewed and modified by multiple users, all of that information needed to be under one unified system. Cockey’s also knew that having flexibility for the planning and scheduling of multiple routes and drivers was an additional functionality they needed to stay nimble, and it wasn’t presently available to them. While the project was initially started by another company, they ultimately decided to move it to VectorOne to develop the modern data solution they desperately needed.

The strategy

When VectorOne started to map out this solution, the final strategies were built upon automation, flexibility and scalability. First, our team decided to begin with manual-driven methods which could translate to an automated digital solution that incorporated multiple users with various access levels. We developed storyboards that translated into UI/UX that demonstrated the workflow efficiencies that were possible.

The solution was going to need to be cloud-based because it would better allow for quicker updates, reliability, enhanced performance and data integrity. With future growth in mind, it was imperative that we created the ability to integrate framework solutions that allowed for future pairing with accounting and mapping functions.

The technology

A cloud-based, Angular JS framework enabled VectorOne to build a management system that was flexible for anticipated growth. This innovative framework incorporated functionality to reduce paper-based records, manage workload and daily assignments, and allow for digital delivery. Cockey’s could now increase their storage capacity when growth demanded it, while also realizing cost savings. Additionally, specific safeguard mechanisms and alerts were added to flag highusage and data consumption so that capacity adjustments could be implemented when needed.

The results

Cockey’s fully customized solution created workflow efficiencies and allowed for quicker completion of daily dispatching duties, enabling optimal business performance. Daily activities were more seamlessly managed with digital tools and processes within the platform, and dispatch information was more quickly delivered to employees, ultimately improving customer service and customer satisfaction.

VectorOne acted both as a development partner along and as a consultant to the project. Targeting previous experiences allowed for a higher view of possible solutions and avenues for the project.
