The opportunity

More than 43.5 million Americans serve as caregivers for older adults, and are constantly challenged to find trustworthy, quality information and provider resources for their loved one. CaringWire.com was created to serve as a digital assistant that simplifies the role of caregivers.

Many times caregivers are tasked with making important health decisions on behalf of their loved ones, challenged to find and research local providers quickly. VectorOne created a digital concierge that took into account CaringWire’s true understanding of a caregiver’s journey.

The strategy

VectorOne developed a deep understanding of CaringWire’s mission, and through that, developed a technology strategy that reflected its unique purpose and business model. CaringWire sought to take a limited understanding of a caregiver user and create highly relevant recommendations to their own specific needs. The sensitive nature of caregiving also motivated VectorOne to develop software that felt less like technology and humanized the experience.

Because CaringWire was a new startup, the technology building blocks needed to be nimble and evolve with the business. As it grew, the user experience needed to reduce friction in acquiring new users, seamlessly supporting its growth.

The technology

Technology leveraged for the CaringWire platform matched the strategic imperatives of this project: empathy and ease of use for the user, scalability for a growing organization and quick results.

VectorOne created a modern, highly scalable, nimble platform using the serverless offerings of AWS. Resources provided to the user were cloud-based, relevant and responsive to the data they provided. Specifically, AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, and Amazon Simple Storage (S3) provided secure and durable building blocks for the CaringWire platform.

As the heart of the project, the CaringWire recommendation engine used innovative scoring algorithms, geolocation data, and fast NOSQL databases to evaluate the needs of caregivers against tens of thousands of national, regional, and local care providers to create personalized recommendations quickly.

Referencing the strategic plan, our UX partners created a trustworthy resource that exhibited empathy for caregivers utilizing the technology. The consumption-based pay-as-you-go model of the serverless technologies gave CaringWire a low total cost of ownership.

The results

VectorOne brought its strategic expertise beyond the technology aspect and served as consultants to sharpen the evolving business model. Our team brought high value features to market, validating concepts and demonstrating value right away. CaringWire was able to bring an MVP online in only 6 months, which generated significant investment.

Analytics from the digital platform provided data-based insights to improve user experience from the beginning. This nimble nature of the CaringWire.com has enabled the platform to quickly evolve with the startup. Once launched, CaringWire’s ability to quickly innovate immediately provided value to users, investors, and partners, fueling growth of the company.
